Good for general consultants and users April 27, 2009 JDPLATTEN (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I appreciate why the people who gave the book one star did so. Coudl well have been a disappointment if you wanted ECC6 or detailed configuration information. Book is more of a tour of the structure and use of the Material Master, BOM and other parts of SAP Materials Management. So why the five stars? Well - It was a structural tour i wanted and the book mostly delivers, so don't be put off if you want that too. NB: When I say structure I do mean from an end user screen perspective. Don't expect a guide to the tables either. Hope this helps you decide. Cheers.
Good Reference Book for Materials Management August 17, 2007 E. Robert Jolley (San Francisco, CA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got this book based on the positive comments on the US Amazon site. I was pleasantly surprised to see a MM book out there that was going to tackle all aspects of Materials Management in one volume. I have been disappointed in other books published on the subject so I was very pleased when I started reading it and finding that it actually was structured and had all the subjects in it that I wanted to find out about. Some of it was a bit below me, but I think that is great for consultants new to MM. Other parts I had to read over a few times to get it, like Material Ledger, so this book as it all. There are quite a few examples and some great config tips just when you need them. It's good that the book is written by an American as is refreshing to not to see everything focused on Germany. The real life examples are from all over the globe.
Overall I was very pleased. A good solid book on Materials Management. I hope the second edition has Purchasing release strategy.
SAP MM Functionality and Technical Configuration 2nd Edition February 26, 2010 Mr. Stephen Thomas Very useful if you are involved in working with and useing SAP in Industry , This book is a good platform to working with SAP
Disappointing. July 30, 2007 Nicolas Guerinet (France) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Among the 500 pages of this book, i didn't find configuration information about Release Strategy and MRP or CBP scenarios. i don't think this book could be helpful to SAP consultants. It is a book that is much more end-users oriented.
Don't waste your time and money!!! September 18, 2008 Emma Jane (London, UK) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is full of screen dumps and transaction codes from much earlier versions of SAP, which is an absolute disappointment as it's supposed to be updated for ECC 6.0.
If it were possible to rate it ZERO, that's what I'd be giving the book
