Product Description
"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all -- then I ask you to read this book...."

In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.

One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.

Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods and take back our great country.

5 out of 5 stars Thank heaven for Common Sense   October 21, 2009

Very informative, easy read. Beck provides ample references supporting his somewhat disconcerting claims. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and fully agree with the premise that it is time for a return to common sense. It is time for "we the people" to demand it.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, I've Read It Twice Already..   September 26, 2009

To start off, let me say that I've been a fan of Glenn Beck since before he was on Fox News. He was usually on point with the things he said and besides that, he never fails to entertain. I don't cling to one news organization or another, I listen to what is said and look for the FACTS, not slanted opinions.

Facts are what this book contains and plenty of them. I've noticed that the liberal detractors have tried their best to put down this book, but I think its popularity speaks for itself. This book contains a lot of information and I would suggest that it's necessary to read it several times to fully grasp everything contained within. After the second time I read it, I went out and purchased the CD so I could share it with family who don't have time to read and to date, I've gotten a very positive consensus of it. I am a registered Independent so don't come at me saying I'm only sticking to what is partisan. I highly recommend this book and with it being less than $10, you can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Glenn Beck's Common Sense   October 8, 2009

Very well written with easy to understand information. Glenn cuts through the fog and smoke screens thrown up by the media, Obama administration and our incompetant congress. What a relief it is to read the real truth for a change. This book truly reveals just how corrupt our government has become.

5 out of 5 stars A must-read for every citizen of the United States of American   October 12, 2009

This book does a good job of presenting of how this country has gravitated away from its core principles. I was pleased that the original "Common Sense" was repoduced in the last part of the book. Reading the original emphasized what the "Root" thinking was when our country was founded.

5 out of 5 stars Well-thought out and well-reasoned   October 18, 2009

In the fascinating book, author and political thinker Glenn Beck makes a passionate plea for Americans to return to the political thinking that served as the very foundation of the country. He shows how the philosophical framework of the county came under assault from the Progressives during the early years of the twentieth century, and how that attack has gained ground until we find ourselves in the early part of the twenty first century with the very nature of the government being overturned. But, more than just a complaint about how things are - it's a plea to get involved, to take a stand for democracy and the simple citizen, and to take back the government that by rights belongs to we the people!

I must admit that I am not familiar with Glenn Beck. I have heard his name bandied about, but I have never watched his show. Well, perhaps I should tune it in! I found this book to be well-thought out and well-reasoned, with his call to becoming more involved in the political process, while avoiding extra-legal action, being passionately pushed. If you are interested in the fate of our country, and are looking for a thought-provoking diagnosis of where we are, how we got here, and where we need to go, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend it.
