5 out of 5 stars There's no other book like it   November 16, 2007

I am a senior manager who is often called upon to make choices for my company about enterprise-computing products, and I've struggled to understand many of the key concepts and products out there. This book brought SAP and its product line into clear focus, explaining exactly what each product does in easy to understand terms. In addition it helped me understand concepts such as service-oriented architecture. I don't have to be an IT person, nor an SAP consultant to see how SAP relates to my business needs. Whatever I choose for our enterprise computing products, I'm very glad I chose this book to help me see the enterprise forest for the trees!

5 out of 5 stars Best current book for beginners   February 17, 2009

If someone has little or no SAP knowledge, this book is the best current book to bring them up to speed quickly. The book makes a clear presentation of what SAP is, what components exist in the SAP universe, and how SAP can be used within an organization. There is not great depth to the presentation, but the overview provided is accurate and detailed enough to allow a beginner to understand the potential for SAP and how all the pieces work together.

Excellent 101 book for anyone who want to know about a SAP solutions and structure. With clear concepts, and with a very easy reading, the book is a must read book if you are new on SAP or if you are a consultant and need to have an overall understanding of the other solutions and concepts outside of your SAP module expertise.

4 out of 5 stars Good Overview for an SAP novice   September 7, 2009

I bought this book for a friend who is not an SAP consultant, but is a manager in the logistics department who was been chosen to be part of a PP team. I got him two books, this one and the "Discover Logistics with SAP ERP" book, also from SAP Press. I read both of the books before giving them to him and I thought the books complemented each other quite well. The Discover SAP book was a good general overview and the Discover Logistics book was a good overview to all the logistics functions in SAP; PP, MM, SD etc.

This book (and the "Discover Logistics" book) is a good overview for someone who does not know much about SAP but is going to be a part of an SAP team or lead an team from a users perspective. This is not a book I would recommend to a consultant or someone who has been working with SAP for sometime.
